DCA is pleased to announce that former Speaker of the House Pete Schwartzkopf will be the keynote speaker for this year’s Fall CACC Luncheon. Representative Schwartzkopf has served the people of Delaware in a variety of capacities beginning as a lifeguard on Delaware beaches before becoming a Delaware State Trooper then being elected to represent the 14^th House District and ultimately rising to House leadership.

Representative Schwartzkopf was elected in 2002 serving in the minority caucus until 2008 when he was elected House Majority Leader with a shift of power in the Delaware State House. In 2013, Representative Schwartzkopf rose to the highest position in the House of Representatives when elected by the full body to serve as Speaker of the House. He has held that position for the past eleven years and seen every twist and turn the Delaware General Assembly can take. He stepped down from his position as Speaker on the last night of session supporting the election of Representative Valerie Longhurst to that post. This historic move saw the House elect its first female Speaker.

Representative Schwartzkopf has served on critically important finance committees during his tenure and worked through numerous complex negotiations in his various leadership roles. Representative Schwartzkopf has been a supporter of DCA and the role of Delaware’s construction economy. Representative Schwartzkopf is frank and humorous during speaking engagements and we look forward to an interesting keynote.
