From the Desk of Executive Director Bryon Short - August 23, 2024
This month a dedicated DCA member will be drawing to close a long and meaningful career. Robert (Bob) Elder, has contributed to Santora CPA Group’s success as its Director of Marketing for the past 15 years but before that he achieved success in multiple arenas. Bob served his country as a U. S. Navy officer and Swift Boat captain during the Vietnam War. He was a banking executive during the heyday of banking expansion in Delaware ultimately becoming the President of more than one bank. He has served on numerous non-profit boards.
Bob’s dedication to DCA and Delaware’s construction industry made him an easy choice to be the 2017 recipient of the Dickie Award. He has served on DCA’s Board of Directors as well as the DCA Executive Committee. His interest in and commitment to DCA’s Government Relations Committee is unparalleled. If there’s a meeting, you can count on Bob being there and contributing to the discussion. He consistently attends DCA’s networking events, building positive relationships with everyone he meets.
During my tenure at DCA, Bob has focused on creating job opportunities for those most likely to be left out of the work opportunities so many of us enjoy. Just this year he saw a year’s long effort he led come to fruition when Wilmington University announced a program offering college credit for trades people who have completed apprenticeships.
In short, Bob has led a life of service to his country, state, community and his fellow DCA members. Bob, we wish you all the best in your next chapter!
