From the Desk of Executive Director Bryon Short - March 29, 2024

Last week, DCA played host for the second year in a row to MISS Utility Delmarva for its March General and Board of Directors meeting. Our boardroom was filled with utility providers, representatives from municipalities and state agencies as well as contractors performing work governed by MISS Utility Delmarva. MISS Utility Delmarva continues to receive a high volume of ticket requests. With the impact of federal infrastructure dollars and state projects, this demand is not going to let up any time soon.

With respect to the processing of utility location requests via MISS Utility Delmarva, the organization is in a demonstration period for its next generation of ticket processing software – ITICnxt. MISS Utility Delmarva offers monthly Virtual ITICnxt (Internet Ticketing) training. Information and training on the new system can be found here with an FAQ at the bottom of the page.

The efficiency of MISS Utility Delmarva is critical to the work of our highway and site contractors. Its partnership with Common Ground Alliance is critical to preventing damage to underground utilities as well as protecting the safety of workers and the general public near projects. Last week, Governor Carney and Lt. Governor Bethany Hall-Long issued a proclamation recognizing April 2024 as SAFE DIGGING MONTH to draw attention to the importance of contacting MISS Utility Delmarva before starting a project that may impact utilities.

DCA is pleased to be a MISS Utility Delmarva partner and to contribute to its mission of protecting utility infrastructure. However, most importantly, we are proud to be part of its work, along with Common Ground Alliance, to protect those workers and citizens working on or living near utility projects.
