This week DCA held its monthly Education and Training Committee meeting chaired by Jim Ruggiero, EDIS. The DCA Education and Training is an important part of DCA’s three-legged stool and a membership value we are always try to keep our members aware of. We know that post-Covid utilization of both in-house training and online training have increased within the construction industry, but we don’t want you to forget DCA is here to help ensure your workforce is the best trained and safest in the industry.

Last month, DCA held an OSHA 10 Hour course in our training room, and we are working to schedule a 4 hour OSHA refresher course next year. This month, DCA will hold three CPR/First Aid classes that are currently filled but we will schedule more in the new year if they help our members. As your workforce training needs are identified, just let us know and the Training and Education Committee will make every effort to line up training for you.

A new offering, thanks to long-time Training and Education Committee member Brian Phillips, Willis, Towers & Watson, is Safety Leadership Training which is targeted to personnel in leadership positions providing them with specific techniques that will help them create a positive, impactful, and engaging safety experience. The techniques taught cover promoting management involvement, the power of owning safety, engaging employees, improving communication skills, influencing behavior and learning how to use peer to peer pressure to establish a safety culture within your company or crew. The Safety Leadership course will be offered free to members on November 19^th from 8:00 am – 10:00 am at DCA. DCA members can register here but please note, the class size is capped at thirty participants.
