We had a successful Civic Affairs Construction Council (CACC) luncheon at the Wilmington Country Club on April 11th. This event has been happening for many years, in both the spring and the fall. The purpose of the event is to raise funds to support candidates and advocacy efforts that are supportive of DCA’s mission.
At this event, our speakers were two legislators, Sen. Walsh and Rep. Williams, who are deeply involved in Delaware’s budget and capital-allocation process. More than 7 billion dollars flow through their committees, and it was great to learn more about the budgetary process as well as their thoughts on fiscal trends in Delaware.
For the DCA members and their guests who attended, it was encouraging to see them engage with the speakers, ask questions specific to their companies and hear important policy updates. The funds raised will be used by the CACC to promote a strong construction economy in Delaware.
The speakers expressed that there is currently uncertainty in the funding relationships between the Federal and State governments as well as economic and state-specific trends putting pressure on Delaware’s finances. In times like these, relationships with the legislators who represent you are more important than ever. There are many challenges ahead for Delaware and DCA members believe that a strong construction economy helps Delaware’s overall economy by providing great buildings, roads, jobs, and utility infrastructure to everyday Delawareans
The most encouraging thing, aside from the robust attendance, was seeing people from the DCA community who may share different beliefs about or affiliations within the construction field come together to network, learn and walk away with beneficial knowledge. Thank you to Mary Sheldon for working with WCC to plan the event and Happy Easter if you celebrate. Hope those of you on Spring Break, or soon to be on Spring Break, have a great time with your families.
Please consider attending our Fall CACC Luncheon and below are some photos from the event.
